Music Monday: Rockin’ Into 2021

Music Monday is back! Again. 😉 I’m thinking it’s time to add more music to my life, your life, our lives. After 2020, I don’t know about you but I’m in need of some comfort and positive energy and that’s what music does for me. It’s time to put away the true crime podcasts and murder mystery audio books (for the time being) and listen to music instead. Music improves mood, lessens anxiety and boosts energy. Yay!

This will be a quick post with a new song of the week to add to your playlist. There might be a little blurb about the song’s origin, the genre or the artist. Most songs will be for a running playlist— upbeat—but some weeks I might throw in a mellow song for relaxing, stretching or yoga.

I’m hoping in the near future to add a link for you to share a post for your favorite song of  the week. All genres are welcome.

And this weeks song is…

Aerosmith Mama Kin (click to listen)

Why not start off with some good ole’ rock n’ roll. This is a great high energy song for your mid to late run when you might need that extra boost to keep you going strong. I probably should’ve started Music Monday with a warm up song but I’ve never been very good at organizing my music into beginning, middle and end. I prefer to shuffle and see where the songs end up. While I’m a creature of habit with most things, I’ld rather not listen to the same playlist, in the same order, day in and day out.

Fun Facts…

Most of you may already know that Aerosmith is a band from Boston. Being from outside of Boston myself, they hold a special place in my heart. I’ve always been a fan, I think they were the first rock band I started listening to. I saw them in concert once and my ears rang for 3 days…no lie. I said after that if I was ever to see them again it would have to be the unplugged version. 🙂

  • Steven Tyler was so confident about the success of this song on Aerosmith’s debut album in 1973 that he went to a tattoo parlor in Providence Rhode Island and had Ma Kin tattooed on his left bicep. Rumor has it that his arm was too skinny for the full title. Lol
  • Aerosmith had a bar near Fenway Park in Boston called Mama Kin that showcased live music. It has since closed.
  • “Keep in touch with Mama Kin” means remembering the desires that drive you to excel. We should all “keep in touch with Mama Kin”.

Are you an Aerosmith fan? Do you listen to music when you run? What’s your favorite genre?

Don’t forget to join me next week for Music Monday.

Thanks for reading and keep running my friends!

I enjoyed some Aerosmith back in the day, alas I don’t have any of their songs on my current playlist. Maybe that needs to change. Those were some fun facts!
