Holiday Gift Guide for Runners

This year I decided to change it up a little. Instead of gifts geared towards training and/or working out I thought I’d focus on rest and recovery. Of course every runner could use moisture wicking socks, a new hat or sunglasses (on my list), or maybe an upgrade on ear buds or Garmin but I’ve been embracing my rest days with some cozy things that I think most runners would also love. We work our bodies hard, it’s time to pamper them.

My Favorite Recovery Day Gifts:

Joggers

I seriously could live in joggers. My favorite comfy, cozy, at home, recovery joggers are Vuori Performance Jogger. Ironically they are called “performance”  but all I want to do in them is lounge. They are perfect after a long run.

I want them in every color.

Add a Halo Performance Hoodie and you’ll never want to leave the house.

My next favorite, for running errands,  meeting up for a casual lunch, or walk at the beach are Athleta’s Venice Jogger. These have a luxurious feel and look just as good. Perfect for all that our bodies do for us.

Abalone Grey, my personal favorite.

I just found out today that they now have both of these brands at my local REI. Woohoo! I love REI and now I have another reason to love then even more.

Throw Blankets

What’s better than a soft cozy blanket to relax with while reading (or watching Netflix) on rest day. My favorite is the Cozy Knit Throw from Target. It is the softest blanket I have.

I have blush but there’s grey, sand and white.

Another good choice right now is the Northeast Outfitter’s Cozy Throw at Dick’s Sporting Goods. They have their holiday special going on right now, buy one get one free.

Socks

While you’re at it you might as well get some cozy socks.

A runner can never have too many socks. These socks are not  for running though, they’re for recovery days. Our feet deserve some pampering and these socks feel like heaven. The Cabin Socks at Dick’s are so soft and cozy and come in a variety of patterns and colors. Something for everyone. They are also on special right now, BOGO. Get a pair for your favorite runner and a pair for yourself.

Foot Scrub & Cream

Add some soothing foot scrub and cream and those runners’ feet will be happy campers.

I’m a nurse and a runner, so my feet take a beating. I love to pamper my feet and you should too. Give your runner friend/family(self) the gift of soft happy feet with Bath and Bodyworks Eucalyptus Spearmint Foot Scrub and Cream. This stuff smells like a spa and feels oh so good.

Do you really rest on rest day? Did you find anything for the runner in your life or maybe to add to your own list?

I’m loving all the comfy finds here! I have some socks very similar to the ones pictured. I like to slather on (generously, LOL) the lotion and let me feet “bake” in the warmth. I have a couple of cozy blanket throws, as well, that get used every evening on the couch (and Max loves them, too).

I think when my feet feel good I feel good. That throw from Target is the softest ever. My daughter got one first, then I needed one for my quiet room. It’s the perfect weight too…not too heavy.

Foot cream that smells like a spa! I will need to try the brand you suggest as mine doesn’t smell so nice.
I sometimes succeed in talking my husband to massage my feet and it feels so good!

    • Denise | 8th Dec 21

My husband gives the best foot massages too. Our feet deserve the love. 😉

      • Catrina | 8th Dec 21

        That’s nice, Denise!

I love those Vuori joggers-i have 2 pairs. There’s nothing better than a comfy throw. Put on a fire in the fireplace and i’m all set…

    • Denise | 8th Dec 21

You should check out the throw from Target. It seriously is the softest ever. And not too heavy.

I think I need some of those joggers. Working from home I could wear them. Who would know.

I love my fleece lined crocs. So comfy.

I would definitely get the joggers, you won’t regret it. I think if you sign up for emails or texts you can get a discount. You can always cancel the messages later.

It can definitely be hard to rest on rest day, but I know how important it is! Sometimes you just gotta do what you just gotta do but I definitely try to have at least one rest day a week. I love joggers too!

    • Denise | 8th Dec 21

Technically my rest days are my work days but I have no problem lounging in my quiet room after a hard run.

      • Chocolaterunsjudy | 9th Dec 21

Ok, just my opinion, feel free to ignore it, but recovery after a run & an actual rest day aren’t the same thing. Both important though!

        • Denise | 9th Dec 21

I don’t have enough days. Lol. I don’t run or workout on work days, doesn’t that count?

          • Chocolaterunsjudy | 9th Dec 21

            🤣 I hear you!

The Vuori joggers are my favorite as well! So comfy! Can you really have too many pairs?

    • Denise | 8th Dec 21

No. But my husband might think otherwise. Lol

Oh, pampering is the perfect idea! Those joggers look so comfy, and I always enjoy lounging in a warm blanket! REI is one of my favorite places so I now know where to go!

    • Denise | 8th Dec 21

I love walking around REI fantasizing about adventures I’d love to go on. Lol

  8. Lisa | 9th Dec 21

I love recovery gear! I am all about warm, comfy socks and sweatpants or joggers after a run. And those blankets are a great idea too!

    • Denise | 9th Dec 21

The Target blanket is the softest blanket ever!

  9. Shathiso @thegaboronerunner.com | 9th Dec 21

That foot scrub looks divine! And I also love my joggers! So comfy and practical. I love the twist you had on the Gift Ideas this year!

  10. Zenaida Arroyo | 9th Dec 21

I have seen the ads for the joggers! I am wondering if I can get away with wearing them for work. 🙂

  11. Marcia | 12th Dec 21

I won’t even tell you how many pairs of joggers I have. I’ve been eyeing the Venice joggers. The ones I’m loving now that it’s cold here are the Cozy Karma joggers from Athleta. I have to go to REI!

    • Denise | 12th Dec 21

Hahaha. I only have the two but I would love all the colors. 🙂
      REI is my favorite.

  12. kookyrunner | 12th Dec 21

I love joggers! They are so comfortable and I always feel like I can dress them up with certain shirts.

    • Denise | 12th Dec 21

And they’re a little more forgiving than leggings. 👍🏼

  13. runswithpugs | 12th Dec 21

These are great ideas. I want joggers and a cozy blanket, so badly!

  14. Laura Norris Running | 14th Dec 21

I love a good throw blanket – we have so many, but I like to keep them in every room. My toddler starts using them now also so we need more!

    • Denise | 14th Dec 21

That one from Target is the softest blanket ever. I just ordered one for my stepmother. You can never have too many blankets. 😉
