Greatest Hits Playlist 2022

I’ve been listening to audio books and podcasts on most of my runs lately but I still love my music. When I saw Kim and Zenaida’s prompt for this weeks Tuesday Topics I knew I had to make a playlist with some of my favorite running songs.

Some of these songs have special meaning for me and that’s why they made the list.

The first song California Love is a good warm up song. It gets me moving but not too fast. I like this song because it reminds me of Ellen, when her show was fun. She danced to this song a lot at the beginning of the show.

The number 3 song Boogie Shoes is a fun song that was on So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). It was one of the dances that made you feel like they were having such a good time.

Song number 6, No Diggity always makes me want to move.

Number 7, Dude (looks like a lady) reminds me of Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire and I loved Robin Williams and that movie, so…

Song number 9, C’est La Vie makes me think of my Mom. She loved Bod Seger and she loved to dance. I know when I play this song she is dancing in heaven.

Number 14, Smokin’ is a fast song that quickens my pace every time. This is an oldie but a goodie.

Song number 16 Mercy this is another song from a favorite dance on SYTYCD. Twitch was one of my favorite dancers and went on to be the DJ on the Ellen show.

And finally, I didn’t mention the 3 Prince songs, but I loved Prince and have a playlist of just him but these are 3 favorites.

I hope you enjoy my playlist. Music can be very personal but is one of the things that can be shared by everyone. It crosses all barriers.

Do you have any favorite songs to run to that have special meaning for you?

Thanks for reading,

 Denise

When I was training for Big Sur, California Love was my ‘theme’ song. You’ve got a lot of good songs on your playlist! Right now i’m listening to songs that hit me in the feels. Don’t ask me why.

That’s the good thing about music, it makes you feel all the feels.

I love the songs you picked. I have not updated my playlist in a really long time. It is varied from Billy Joel to Lady Gaga to Broadway tunes.

    Mostly I listen to podcasts…

I love Billy Joel and Lady Gaga. Broadway tunes, not so much. 🙂 My playlist needs some new music too.

I also mostly listen to podcasts, but I do have a running playlist, which is mostly for emergencies. Like if I’m dying at the end of a long run, I turn off the podcast and turn on the tunes. It really helps!

Same. And I usually listen to music at races because I can focus on running but still be distracted a little by the music.

These are very motivating songs, Denise!
Yes, I have a few songs that have a special meaning to me. Every 3 months, I take note in a diary of a current song that sticks out to me. It’s quite amazing how certain songs characterize an event, a season, or a year.

What a good idea to write them down. It will be fun to look back on.

no playlist is complete without a few Prince songs! I like to listen to audio books while walking or working around the house but I need faster music for running.

Maybe that’s why my pace is so slow. 😁 If I do a track workout or hill repeats I put on music.

Oh, I LOVE Boogie Shoes! Back in the day (seems like eons ago, LOL) when I ran with music, that was a favorite to listen to.

    • Denise | 22nd Jun 22

Some songs will always be good songs. That’s one of them.

I love all the songs you selected, especially because they cover all different genres of music!

Thanks Kim. We should share playlists more often.

  8. Zenaida Arroyo | 22nd Jun 22

I do like KC and the Sunshine Band! Now I have a few more songs to add to my playlist. The thing about songs is that they can send us a message/meaning or remind us of a moment/moments. They can also be good or sad moments. Still, music is life!

Well said Zenaida. Music Is life!

This is such a fun and varied list of songs! I love you that you have a song that reminds you of your mum and her love for dancing.

I don’t run to music, but when I did, one of my favorites was actually Miley Cyrus’s The Climb. I totally loved that song!

    • Denise | 23rd Jun 22

My girls listened to that song so much. I think I’ve heard it a million times. I don’t think I could have it on my playlist. Lol

Even though she’s SO talented, she’s not someone I listen to on the regular!
