Sometimes there are things that I just love so much I want everyone to know, so maybe they will love them too. Or not. You decide. Here are a few things that are bringing me joy right now.
I love her! And yes I call “it” her because she is now part of the family, like Rosie on the Jetsons. Who would of ever thought we would be living in a time when you could just ask a question and this little speaker would answer. This is the one we have this one.
I love that you can tell her to play any genre of music you want without having to go to Spotify and connecting it to our Bluetooth speaker. So simple. Life really is getting easier. Which brings me to my next love…
When did that happen? I’m not too proud to admit that I totally love listening to this music while I’m cooking or cleaning…I am officially my mother (who by the way had great taste in music–just saying). I tell Alexa to play easy listening and she plays songs from Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Adele, Sam Smith and some oldies like Van Morrison and Tracy Chapman. For me it’s calming, especially after a couple chaotic days of work.
Running music it is not, but I’m not running all the time. As a matter of fact I haven’t been listening to music while I run because my new favorite thing is…
It took me a while to get use to listening to books. My husband has been listening to books for a few years but I enjoy reading and I felt like it was a little like cheating to just listen. A crazy thought I know, but now I’m over it. I listen mostly while I run and it makes the time fly by. I am currently listening to A Life We Bury by Allen Eskens
A book about a college student, Joe, who has to write a strangers biography. He ends up with a guy, Carl, who was convicted of the rape and murder of a 14 year old girl. After 30 years in prison he is now spending his final months in a nursing home dying of pancreatic cancer. Joe has his own complicated life that he’s trying to deal with as he quickly realizes Carl’s conviction may not be as cut and dried as it had seemed.
I have found that the narrator can make or break a book but this one is perfect for this story.
I bought this on a recommendation of Marcia @rundefinitely and planned on giving it a month before I made an opinion of my own but it’s been less than 2 weeks and I love how my skin looks and feels. I may be imagining it or it’s wishful thinking, but I swear I have less fine lines around my eyes. Either way I am happy. And I love the smell of the cleanser. I don’t know about you but if something smells good I am already a fan.

I’ve been listening to audio books and podcasts on most of my runs lately…
Every new year brings new aspirations and goals. I haven’t really put any…

I have not gotten into audio books yet (yes, I’m several years behind everyone else LOL), but when our kids were young, we listened to one of the Harry Potter books on a long car trip…and it was awesome! Like you said, the narrator totally made it come to life and it was so entertaining (even to my husband, who had no clue of the Harry Potter story).

I only started listening because my husband insisted I try. And when I was training for a marathon I needed something that would last for miles.

I also love Alexa, although sometimes she doesn’t recognize my voice for some reason, lol.
Denise | 6th Feb 19
I’ve that before. I wonder why.

For some reason I cannot get into audiobooks. I feel like I need to sit down without any distractions in order to listen to the book.
I’ve heard great things about FRÉ. Happy to hear you you pleased with the products.

I felt the same way at first. I found I would daydream and miss a bunch of the book, but I finally learned to just listen and after a while it grabs your attention. I only listen when running or sometimes in the car, I still read in bed at night.

I have to try it when running.

I just started listening to audio books and I like them. Alexa freaks me out!

I have friends that feel the same about Alexa but it makes me feel very space-age.

I love Ed Sheeran and Adele – I find they also calm/relax me when I need it. My husband only listens to audio books and I’ve until recently thought it was cheating too! I don’t think I’ll convert yet but I’ve been impressed at how much knowledge he has acquired while listening on the run!

I still prefer reading over listening but audiobooks are working out pretty well for running.

I actually read The Life We Bury and it was amazing! I imagine that the audio book brought life to the story. I don’t do audiobooks–I prefer to read them. I must have ADHD or something because it’s the same with podcasts–I lose interest!

It took me a little while to get use to audiobooks. I’ve had to rewind more than a few times because I zone out.

After a couple of falls I learned not to listen music while running and to pay attention to the road.
Denise | 8th Feb 19
That sounds like a good idea. I don’t listen to anything when I run on trails for that same reason.

I’m so glad you like FRE! Doesn’t it smell so nice and fresh? We have an Echo Dot here and it’s really fun to tell Alexa whatever I wanna hear!
Denise | 11th Feb 19
If a product smells good I’m all for it.

I zone out too much to listen to audiobooks running, but I love them for long car rides. We have not invited Alexa into our home. My husband is too concerned with privacy issues and hacking.

Sorry for the late reply, I thought I already did 🙂
It took me a while to not zone out while listening to books. Somedays I just give up and switch to music.
You got me thinking about Alexa invading my privacy. Hmmm
