Whether you are running your favorite Turkey Trot or preparing for your next race, November is a great month for running. In most places the weather is cooling off, unfortunately not for us here in Southern California (if you get out in the early morning or late afternoon, all is good).
Here are a few runs to choose from in So Ca…
The most popular is the Dana Point Turkey Trot. I have never done this one, but it sounds like fun. Maybe this year I will try it out.
Then there is a low key turkey trot in Huntington Beach put on by Causelife. It helps provide clean water to developing countries. It’s a nice run along the coast on the bike trail. The trail is open to everyone so be prepared to share the road. but it’s small so it’s not a problem.
Or you could try a trail run at O’Neil Park in Trabuco Canyon. This race is the Saturday before Thanksgiving which makes it easier for those of us who are cooking on turkey day. Find info at Rock It Racing Turkeys on Trails.

Of course you can run where you normally run on Thanksgiving morning and you will burn the same calories. That is what makes running appealing, it can be done almost anywhere. Don’t make it complicated. Do what is easy for you.
Whatever you decide to do, have a great Thanksgiving and be thankful you can run!
Keep running!
Summer running is hard. It’s right up there with running in the wind…
I’ve been listening to audio books and podcasts on most of my runs lately…
