Months go by so fast. It is already the end of April and time to join Marcia in the runfessional. Thank goodness for this time to cleanse our soles and start fresh for the coming month.
As many of you know (because I never stop talking about it, but I runfess that you are practically the only people I have to talk to about it. My “regular” friends don’t really get it.) registration for the Boston Marathon opened last week. My BQ from 2018 still qualified me for this year (due to COVID) but doesn’t guarantee my spot. Acceptance emails will go out in the next couple of weeks. I runfess that I don’t think I will be too disappointed if I don’t get in. I’m not sure I want to train for another marathon even if it is Boston. And if I do go to Boston it’s not going to be the family trip it originally was supposed to be, so there’s that. Having said that, I runfess, I’m pretty sure if I do get in my attitude will change.
I have a heck of a time with headphones/earbuds that fit right and don’t fall out of my tiny ears. I’ve had the best luck with Jaybirds but lost them a couple months ago. I’ve been using my husbands but I runfess that I left them in my shorts pocket and put them through the wash and now only the right one works. Oops. Not really a big deal but it falls out all the time anyway (which was why they were in my pocket to begin with) so I was in search of new ones.
I decided to try out AfterShokz because people seem to like them. I wore them twice and returned them. I runfess that I don’t see what the big fuss is about. I found them to be too bulky with my sunglasses and hat, rubbing on the top of my ears. And I needed the volume way up to hear my music when I was on heavily trafficked streets because they use bone conduction technology so your ears are open to outside noise. (Pros and cons to that.) I runfess that I should’ve stayed with tried and true Jaybirds. I’m back, and bought the Vista True Wireless Bluetooth Waterproof Earbud Premium Headphones…that’s a mouth full! They come today. I hope I like them because I runfess I’m kind of over it.
Well that’s enough from me. Who else has some runfessions they need to get off their chest? Do you have issues finding the right earbuds? Would you pass on Boston if you qualified?
Summer running is hard. It’s right up there with running in the wind…
I’ve been listening to audio books and podcasts on most of my runs lately…

Thanks Deborah! I knew a fellow runner would get it. I’m trying to soften the blow of being denied.

Aftershokz didn’t work for me either. Honestly, I love my Apple Airpods for running and everything else.
I hope Boston works out!

You know I didn’t even think to check out Apple. I forgot they redesigned them to stay in better.

Ah, interesting review of the aftershokz. Glad to hear it- i normally only hear rave reviews but there’s always another side! Love the headphone life hack, ha ha.
I hope you get in to Boston, and run it and have an amazing time! Good luck!

I know people who love AfterShokz but I think my ears are too small for them, a hat and sunglasses.
Thanks about Boston!

I hope you get into Boston. It is the event of a lifetime – something you would not want to miss. Keep us posted!

Thanks Laurie! It’s too bad it didn’t work out the way I had planned.

I really hope you make the Boston cut! That finish line is one of a kind. Sorry about the headphone woes. The only time I disliked my Aftershokz is in winter when I wear a fleece headband because they slip off over the fabric. That said now all I wear are Air Pods. SO far so good with those.

Thanks about Boston. 🤞🏼
I didn’t even think of Air Pods 🙄 I have a friend that told me she has no problems with them falling out.

I’m never gonna BQ so that is one less thing to think about. 🙂
I only wear Apple Airbuds when I run on the treadmill, because outside I don’t run with music. Although I haven’t had them fall out when I’m running on the treadmill, anyway. Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you!

I just got my Jaybirds and will be testing them out tomorrow. 🤞🏼

Hope they work out for you!

I have a pair of Plantronics wireless headphones that I have used for the past few years that work well for me. I’m hoping that they never break because it’s so hard for me to find headphone that I like!
Denise | 4th May 21
You and me both!

I actually love my AfterShokz! I’m on my second pair, so they are definitely my favorites.
I hope you get in to Boston!!! Fingers crossed!

They seem great in theory but with my hat and sunglasses it’s just too much.
It doesn’t look like I’ll get in to Boston. They just announced that they are accepting applicants that beat their time by over 7 mins. I beat mine by 2 and change.
