It’s been a long while since I posted a Music Monday. Music Monday came about out of the desire to share songs that I like to run to, as well as the need to expand my own playlist. I stopped posting weekly songs because I wasn’t getting much of a response, but I like writing them so they’re back.
I’ve been listening to podcasts on most of my runs since the heavy mileage I was doing while marathon training. I mostly listened to true crime but have switched to motivational. I love listening to Hurdle , it features people who got through a tough time—a hurdle of sorts—by integrating wellness into their routines.… brings you their stories, the lessons they learned, and hopefully gives you the push you need to live a healthier, happier, more motivated life. ~taken from Hurdle author Emily Abbate’s blog. I highly recommend checking it out.
With summer comes more trail runs which require more focus and some music in the background.
This song is perfect to kick off my summer running. It’s one of the more recent songs I uploaded to my playlist.
Yes this is an old song but when I hear it I think of my mother dancing in the kitchen and it makes me smile. (And smiling makes running easier…it’s proven. 🙂 ) I don’t know if my mom actually danced to this in the kitchen but I know she loved Bob Seger and loved to dance, and this song makes me want to move. It came on during my most recent trail race (recap coming this week) as I was struggling to run up a steep hill. It made me happy and helped me forget tolerate the struggle for a few minutes.
That’s when I decided to bring back Music Monday and this would be the song of the week. C’est La Vie was originally written by Chuck Berry in 1964 and probably redone by many artists. I like Bod Seger’s version that was released on a greatest hits album in 1994. It goes to show how timeless the song is.
I hope this song gets you moving like it does me. For more songs from my first Music Monday playlist go here.

I tend to choose songs for my playlist that have a good beat or…
