Good morning! This is my first time linking up with Coco and Deborahforthe Ultimate Coffee Date and I am so excited to find this group of like-minded women! Please don’t leave before checking out their links. π
If we were having coffee… I would tell you how happy I am that the sun is out this morning! I know many of you are in areas where the weather has been awful (and may still be) so I won’t complain about the cloudy 50 – 60 degree weather we are having. Like I tell my husband, it’s all relative. No matter where you live, when it’s Spring you want Spring-like weather! On the “bright” side, it has been perfect running weather.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you about my puppy/dog dilemma. I have two German Shepherds, Sadie who is 10 years old and has been my running partner for 9 of those years and Luna who is 8 months old and wants to be my running partner. Here’s the dilemma…Sadie loves to go with me but she doesn’t want to go too fast or too far, while Luna wants to sprint (sniff grass, eat dandelions, bark at other dogs, the list goes on) the whole time and I just want to run. Technically Luna is still too young to run very far even though she could probably go forever. My solution… take Sadie for a short run then come home, switch dogs and do sprints with Luna. Sounds reasonable, except it’s time consuming and I don’t like breaking up my run like that. I suppose this will only be a temporary dilemma because soon Sadie won’t be able to run and Luna will calm down and run like a normal dog. π
If we were having coffee… I would tell you about my upcoming race in Las Vegas. It’s the Purple Run 7k in honor of Prince. I don’t usually travel for anything less than a half marathon but I love Prince and it’s an excuse to go to Vegas for the weekend. I’m not much of a Vegas person but this could be the first of an annual trip.
If we were having coffee… I would say how thrilled I am to have finally found my people! I love reading, writing and talking about running (or all things fitness) but while I have running friends, most of my friends don’t run and therefore don’t truly get “it”. And that is okay, I don’t expect everyone to run (races would be crazy packed π ). It’s just nice to share stuff with other runners.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Signing off to go for a hike with the hubby.
Before you go, don’t forget to check out our hosts.
I saw Prince back in the days before Purple Rain when I was a student in college. I always loved his music, his unique style, and his artistry! How fun that there’s a race in his honor. I’m anxious to hear all about it.
I’m happy you found our little running community! I’ve made some really good friends through my blog and meeting them in real life is the cherry on the sundae!

I was so sad when Prince died. Such a loss for the music industry.
I love getting know and supporting one another in this amazing cyber world we live in. Like you said, meeting in real life is the cherry on top!

Welcome to the Ultimate Coffee Date! It’s great fun to catch up with other runners about sometimes more non-running related goings-on. π How fun that you’re coming to Vegas for the Purple Run 7k. I didn’t have a chance to run it last year and won’t be running it this year either, but maybe next year! I have run in Sunset Park a bunch of times, though. It’s a nice place to run. Looking forward to hearing how you like the race.

Maybe I’ll see you there next year. π

Welcome to the Ultimate Coffee link-up, it’s my favorite thing to be a part of every month!
Awww, your dogs sound so cute! I’m sure the puppy will be excited to get to run with you soon enough. Then, Sadie will get a break. π
The Prince 7k race sounds like fun. Hope you have an awesome time in Vegas.

I would tell you that I am really jealous of your weather and that race in Vegas sounds like a blast. I did the RnR race a few years ago and it was so much fun. Thanks for joining the coffee date this month!

I’ve only done the San Diego RnR marathon and it was my last full marathon. I need to relook at that series. They have races in so many great cities. Sounds like a good goal for 2019!

That 7K sounds fun! I agree I tend to only travel for longer races – but if it’s a good place to go, why not, right?

That’s right! I look at it as a good excuse to get away for the weekend. π

The Prince 7k sounds so cool! His music makes me think of high school. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a 7k distance before…automatic PR? And definitely worth traveling for π

It’s a 7k because 7 was Prince’s favorite number. I like the way you think…yes, an automatic PR!
