It’s been a while since I shared a coffee with my cyber friends even though my morning coffee at the computer is one of my favorite times of the day! I have a few things to share and would love to hear what’s going on with all of you too.
I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah, take a minute to visit them and leave a comment.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you how we are putting in a new backyard! I am so excited for my new happy place. So far we (and by “we” I mean the contractors, my husband, neighbor and brother in-law 😉 ) have put up a patio cover complete with lights and rain gutter, a cover over the hot tub, trees have been removed, BBQ/bar built and Chester (our rabbit) has been relocated to a shadier location. Next up is a new deck, while my husband finishes tiling the new BBQ/bar. Grass and a small pond will be put in last. Furniture has been bought and is waiting in boxes to be put in it’s happy new yard. I love sitting outside to read, and have wanted a new happy place for a long, long time. I can’t wait to share pics of the finished product. Stay tuned…
If we were having coffee I would tell you about my new job in the Health and Wellness office at a local community college. I currently work part time (2, 12 hr shifts) in a crazy busy emergency department where I normally pick up an extra day a week, but recently had a couple of friends recruit me to the college for a easy change. I’ll be working one, 8 hour (princess) shift a week. So far it has been cake! My only concern is that I am essentially alone with no one to talk to. 🙁 I am use to being around a ton of people and enjoy chatting with my coworkers, so this will be an adjustment. I’m hoping to get some much needed blogging done.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you how my running has cut way back since my BQ. I mostly do 4 miles or 3.3 mile loop with Luna. As some of you know Luna pulled me down recently when she got spooked by a harmless lady walking by, so now I think I have a little PTFD (post-traumatic fall disorder, no disrespect to anyone with PTSD). Every time we come up on someone or something, I stop and walk with her because I’m afraid she’s going to freak and bolt. It makes for a stressful, broken up run. I don’t want to leave her at home because she needs these runs as much as I do. Hopefully we’ll both be able to run relaxed and non-stop soon.
If we were having coffee I’d mention how ever since I started listening to true crime podcasts (Crime Junkies is a favorite) I don’t listen to music while running. I’m listening to audiobooks too, which has been good because it makes my runs go by fast, but bad because I listen while walking with Sadie and seriously could walk forever, then my whole morning is gone in a flash. Sadie is a very happy dog though. 🙂 I’m currently listening to Gone Girl, you may have seen the movie with Ben Affleck way back when. I’m not loving the book. They both just go on about their unhappy marriage which I find to be depressing. They’ve been married for 5 unhappy years and make it sound like a lifetime…move on people! I’m uploading The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens today because I heard it was really good. If anyone has read or listened to it I’d appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
Okay that’s enough about me.
I thought I would put my feet up with a cup of coffee after Pilates…
Yay for getting together for coffee and a big thank you to Coco and Deborah…

Awww. I miss you Denise. I think we should actually have coffee (or lunch or maybe drag me on a hike soon).

Just say when and I’ll be there! Miss you too Jeanine!

Oh, I understand how you feel about that fall. I slipped on ice a few weeks ago and now walk so slowly with Scooby. I think he’s frustrated! Thanks for the tip on the podcast. Have you listed to Dr. Death? Not quite true crime but horror in the hospital? Your backyard project sounds amazing!
Thanks for joining us for coffee!

I have listened to Dr. Death. Amazing and horrifying how long he was allowed to do surgeries on people.

I work in an office with 60ish others. My job is one of those that could be moved to a work-from-home scenario (it would just require a few tweaks to my computer, etc.), I really think I’d be lonely, though! I like interacting and chatting with the others while I’m walking around.

I think it’s better for brain health to be around people rather than secluded in your house.

How exciting to be updating your backyard! That will be SO nice to enjoy! I totally understand your concerns about running with Luna. Better safe than sorry. I work at home so I’m alone a lot except for the conference calls. I’m fine with it though!

I’m home alone a lot and I too am fine with it. I may just find that I like working alone. I still have the ER to fill my need of conversation.
