Sharing little tidbits about our lives over coffee is one of my favorite posts. Join me and the rest of my virtual friends over coffee with our hosts Coco and Deborah and visit other like-minded people in the linkup The Ultimate Coffee Date.
Let’s get started because my coffee is getting cold…
Over coffee I would tell you that I’m supposed to be driving to Oceanside right now to do the annual 50 mile bike ride but my sister wasn’t feeling well, a friends Dad passed away this week, another friend had to work and honestly I’m not feeling it. I haven’t been on my bike much because of marathon training so I’m okay with not having a sore butt today.
Over coffee I would tell you that I want to repaint my kitchen whole house but can’t decide on colors. I know that as soon as I paint I’ll see another color that I’ll like better. Styles and color schemes seem to change so fast (or I’m just slow to change). I know I should stick with neutrals but I like color. UGH!
Over coffee I would tell you that I’ve been kinda enjoying my extended marathon recovery time. (maybe this is more of a runfession) 😉 But now it’s time to get back on track (literally) and pick a race. I’m looking at the Palos Verdes Half. It’s a hilly, coastal course… in 2 weeks. I can get back up to 13.1 miles in 2 weeks, right? Did I mention the hills? We’ll see.
And finally,
Over coffee I would tell you about a book I just read Living with a SEAL: 31 Days Training with the Toughest Man on the Planet written by entrepreneur Jesse Itzler. (thanks Wendy at Taking the Long Way Home for the recommendation!) It’s a funny story about what happened when a crazy-ass (sorry no other term comes to mind) Navy Seal moves in with Jesse to train him for a month. In the book Jesse mentions that he only eats fruit before noon because it’s suppose to help with digestion and energy. It sounds good in theory. I made it 2 hours. Apples just don’t go well with my morning coffee. 🙂 Anyhow, read the book, you will enjoy it.
That’s all for today. Share some of your thoughts with me below. I would love to hear what you have to say!
I thought I would put my feet up with a cup of coffee after Pilates…
Yay for getting together for coffee and a big thank you to Coco and Deborah…

I hope your friend will be okay!
Good luck with deciding on a color scheme for your kitchen! I usually stick to neutrals but I like pops of color too!
The photo of that course is gorgeous!

Thanks. It’s so hard when you lose a parent.
Palos Verdes is one of my most favorite places, but in order to get that view you also get hills to contend with. I’m thinking it might be worth it. 🙂

It’s so hard to pick paint colors! I just feel like there are hundreds of options.
Thanks for the reminder about that book! I meant to pick it up after reading Wendy’s review.

Seriously! Hundreds! You’re going to like the book. I wanted to do push ups while reading it, and I can’t do push ups!

We need so much redecorating here. My husband is giving me a hard time and I don’t know why….
I’m so glad you liked the book. I did some background reading on Seal and he is one badass guy! Machine-like, really.

I start with paint then gradually change out things until we have a new look and my husband doesn’t know what hit him. Lol.
I think Jesse Itzler is pretty incredible too. Keep the book suggestions coming, I’m 3 for 3. 🙂

My only morning ritual regarding breakfast is that I never miss it. Over the past year (maybe longer?), though, I have been doing fasted-cardio in the mornings…for me, that means 20-30 minutes of something before I eat anything. Sometimes, that involves a run (no longer than 6-7 miles) or power walking. I’m gonna bring back HIIT workouts and/or stair running soon (now that my marathon recovery is pretty much done) as well. And, you could totally do another 13.1 this soon after your marathon 😉 (I did a 13.1 eight days following my marathon a couple weeks ago LOL).

I can’t run without a little something in my belly. Usually a Cliff bar or half a banana, and coffee.
I think it’s amazing that you did a half, 8 days after a marathon. I took 2 wks off. Now it’s time to get my butt in gear and put in some miles.
Deborah Brooks | 4th Nov 18
So wondering if you signed up for the half? I have a half in 2 weeks as well-Philly-feeling a little under trained but I will make it through. Thanks for joining us to catch up over coffee
Denise | 5th Nov 18
I haven’t signed up…yet. My husband will be out of town that weekend so I can either get in some overtime or run in beautiful PV. Decisions, decisions. 😉
I would love to go to Philly but that’s not one of my options. 🙂

That looks like one gorgeous race! Our house has been upside down with renovations for a month already and we’re nowhere near finished. We’ll get to paint eventually. First these floors need to be done. It’s such a PIA but it’ll be worth it!

When we remodeled our kitchen it was so stressful. I never want to do that again. It is worth it though. Someone told me if your marriage can survive a remodel, it can survive anything!
Coco | 11th Nov 18
After we failed horribly at picking paint we leave it to the professionals. We had samples of the same color on different walls and my husband liked one but not the other. 😉

I ended up painting a grey/blue (sanctuary blue) in the kitchen and every wall looks different. Good thing I like it because it’s going to be that color for a long while. It’s so much work!
