Runfessions/Ultimate Coffee Date: April/May 2019

This week I am joining Marcia  for Runfessions and Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Congratulations to Marcia for completing her 6th marathon in the 6 World Majors! You Rock Marcia!

The Ultimate Coffee Date

                monthly runfessions

So let’s get right to it…

I runfess that while watching the Boston Marathon a couple weeks ago I was getting a little anxious seeing the course and all those rolling hills. As some of you may know, I qualified for Boston in 2020 and hope to be running it next year providing my qualifying time was fast enough. Fingers crossed.

Over coffee I would tell that I have already reserved a house for our family Boston trip next year, because we are going either way…either with my family cheering me on or all of us cheering on the other marathoners.

I runfess that I am liking, not training for a marathon at the moment. Running 4, 6 or 8 miles is nice. Even the 10 miles I did the other day was nothing compared to that 20 mile long run needed when marathon training.

Over coffee I would share that I registered for the USA Women’s Half Marathon in Palm Desert, CA.  It used to be the Nike Women’s Marathon but for some reason Nike no longer sponsors it. I’ve been waiting for this race to come back and am so excited for a girls weekend and a new Tiffany finisher’s necklace. Check out the link above to see the other swag. This would be a great race for all of us bloggers to meet at next year. Just throwing it out there. πŸ™‚

And I runfess that I haven’t told my husband yet about said race because for some reason he is under the impression that Boston is my last marathon and am quitting halfs and sticking to 5 & 10k’s. I don’t recall saying that, and even if I did, this race is before Boston so it would be considered a training run. Need I remind him training for halfs keeps me in this fabulous shape. (wink, wink) πŸ˜‰

Last but not least…

Over coffee I would tell you about my new backyard. It is nearly complete and I love it! My husband did an amazing job. He knew how much I wanted my outdoor space and he made it happen. Our yard is pretty small but we utilized every inch the best that we could.

Same as the 1st pic except the 1st shows the pond and this one has the bar.

Does anyone else register first and tell later? Anyone interested in a destination race to meet with blogger friends?

Thanks for reading!

Denise

Oh yes, I have done several destination races that involved blogger meet-ups. And, I have put off discussing potential races with the hubby for the same reason as you mentioned πŸ˜‰ ( Ahem…MCM and a possible Ragnar….)

I would love to meet up at a race with all the bloggers that I feel like I already know.

My best advice for Boston training is to train hills when you’re tired. There are rollers all through the Boston course but they get hairy starting at 19 through 23 then it’s all downhill. So is that half in place of the Nike Women’s Half that was in San Fran? I swear that race was the first one I ever put on my bucket list but never got around to doing. Kind of sad Nike no longer sponsors it. Your yard looks fabulous! I cherish my outdoor space and call the deck “my sanctuary”. I’m coveting that firepit!

Yes the USA Women’s Marathon replaced the Nike race. Nike was my first and second marathon, and then my second half. I loved going to SF but I hear it’s full of homeless and drug addicts on the streets. So sad, such a great city.
I have a friend who has done Boston 3 times including this year, and she warned me about the hills later in the course. Still a little daunting when you see them.
My yard is definitely my sanctuary! Thanks!

Yeah, Nike stopped after DC. This is the first year it’s back, but registration is closed. If you really want to run it (it’s Nov 23rd, not exactly early in the month) maybe I can get you on my team (Runheartfit).
I am enjoying my backyard, thanks!

Your yard looks lovely! I always tell my husb about my race sign-ups after the fact, but most don’t involve travel. I did sign up for the Richmond Half before asking him, but it’s my birthday weekend so he can’t say no. πŸ˜‰

Usually I discuss races that require travel with my husband first, especially since he goes with me, but after the backyard expense and planning for Boston I didn’t want to ask. Hehehe. He never says no anyhow. πŸ™‚
What a great way to spend your birthday weekend!

Interesting that the Womens Half is going to be in Palm Desert! So different from San Fran. I’d love to do it but I can barely run 3 miles right now…if my body gets back on board, I’ll let you know. Blogger meet ups are so fun!

Your backyard looks great! You’ll probably get a lot of use out of it!

I prefer SF because I’m not much of a desert person but they didn’t ask me, so…
When your body decides to cooperate (I have no doubt that it will) just say the word!
I hope I’m in the loop for the next blogger meet up.
