Happy Saturday everyone! Welcome to the June edition of Runfessions, linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice.
I’m just going to get right to it…
June has been a great month but there’s always something to runfess.
I runfess…marathon training has taken over my life. Everything I do revolves around when and where I’m running that day. Providing I get anything else done because some days I’m just too tired. I don’t run on days I work so those are my “rest” days, except work has been really busy so I’m basically tired every day. I know…suck it up buttercup…I signed up for this.
I runfess … when using the multi-use trail at the beach I really, really wish people would stay to the right. I mean seriously, is it too much to ask for people to move to the right when they stop to chat, or when a surfer is standing there with his surfboard (sticking out across the whole path) looking at the waves. Move over people and share the path!
I runfess… there’s nothing like mountain running to make you feel like you need to step it up with your training. My training schedule had me doing a 2 mile warm-up, 6 miles at a steady 10:03-10:30 pace, then 1 mile cool down. I decided to adjust that considering I’m at the cabin in the mountains (and my lungs haven’t been here in a while). My thoughts were a 1 mile warm-up, 4 mile steady pace, then a 1/2 mile cool down. Well that didn’t happen! Instead I did a 1 mile warm-up walk/run (forgot how hilly it is here) then a 3.75 mile run/walk back to the cabin. And can I add that I runfess that now I am worried about my Revel Big Bear Marathon.
And lastly I runfess, that my blogging has been put on the back burner. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging, but as mentioned above, training has taken over my life. Ironically, I think of all these things to write about while I’m running but after 2 or 3 hours on the road, coming home, doing a few chores, eating and showering, I’m ready to relax with my book (I’m reading Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen) until it’s time to start dinner. This weeks training schedule is lighter than usual so I’m hoping to get some blogging done. How do you fellow bloggers get it all done?
It’s the end of April which means Marcia has opened the Runfessional for us…
It’s the end of the the month and year so it’s time…

No surfers on my paths-lol- but yes, I often look at my paths as an obstacle course. I dodge kids, bikes, dogs, walkers…don’t they know it’s my path?
Yep, marathon training is all encompassing, that’s for sure! But what a view!

Yes, it is an obstacle course. My usual route has newly planted trees that I call “my trees” because I spend so much time on that road. My kids think I’m crazy.
It is a great view but it comes with a high (altitude) price!

Yes, I sometimes feel like marathon training takes over my life! I think the last time I trained for one I didnt clean my house for 3 months. And its tough to keep up with blogging, especially while training. It also drives me crazy when people stop in the middle of a running path or walk 3-4 across and I can’t get past them.

Funny you should mention the house cleaning. I’ve been thinking about getting a housekeeper. I just don’t have enough time(or energy) to do everything.

Oh gosh yes, I get SO frustrated by people obstructing the path. Especially people who let their dog leash go clear across the whole thing. WTH? I admire your devotion to marathon training. I need to follow your lead! Thanks for linking!

Seriously…about the dog leash! I had a guy let his dog go across the path and then look at me like “What?” and told me to just go. I had my dog with me too. I was like “Dude! Get your dog!” Besides the fact that I can’t run through a leash!
I am trying so hard to stay devoted to this dang marathon training!
