Runfessions, Coffee Date Combo

It’s a combo day again this month, when runfessions and coffee date land on the same weekend. Kinda nice to knock out both in one post. I’m just hoping the runfessional is still open since I had to work and forgot to get my post ready ahead of time. (eye roll) It’ll be quick because I got to get out for a longish run, sigh.

So without further ado I’ll get to it.

I’ll be having French Roast with vanilla flavored almond milk and 2 scoops of Great Lakes collagen. What is your hot beverage of choice?

If we were having coffee I would runfess that I’ve been slacking on the core power yoga. It’s been a challenge trying to fit it in with Pilates, running and work. And I runfess that I forget to do it after work because once I sit down my brain turns off and all bets are off. I’m hoping February will be better.

If we were having coffee I would runfess that I’ve been struggling with marathon training. I’m excited for Boston but I think the challenge was qualifying and now I don’t have the same drive. People keep asking about training and I feel so bad that I’m not “feeling” it. Hopefully my new BAA jacket will put some pep in my step. I won’t be wearing it until after the marathon, but you can guarantee it will be the first thing I wear after the race and a shower! πŸ™‚

If we were having coffee I would runfess that I worry about my husband keeping up with me as we age. I am constantly trying to get him to eat better and move more but it’s a battle. I just bought him an apple watch to track his fitness and a stationary bike (which I plan on using while watching Animal Planet and This Is Us) in hopes of getting him moving. We’ll see. One can hope. πŸ˜‰

And last but (I think) by far not least, if we were having coffee I would runfess I would tell you about how I pranked my girls the other day. A private FB group I belong to recently posted a prank to play on your kids, so without thinking it through too much (first mistake) I did it to my girls. I was bored at the college the other day so I thought it would be fun. This is my text to them…”So if the police come talk to you tell them we had lunch together on Friday.”

Long story short, things got out of hand. My sensitive 22 yr old freaked out, called her boyfriend (who’s a police officer…thanks kid) freaking out saying I wanted her to lie to the police, he says don’t. Meanwhile she’s texting her sister who’s saying they need to lie because “it’s mom” and her sister is texting me setting up an alibi (now I know who has my back, lol). Then I tell my husband to text them about the police asking about me and my sensitive one calls him crying. Jokes over. Me and my co-worker got a good laugh…my daughter, not so much. Hehehe.

Have you ever played a prank that went south? Does your spouse have the same fitness goals as you?

A couple years ago, on April 1st, I texted the out-of-town daughter (living in PA at the time), that our energetic dog had tripped me on the stair way and I had landed in the ER with a few stitches. She knows I do a lot of stair workouts, that our dog is hyper (at times) AND that I’m a klutz. She texted back…”OMG! Are you alright? #badMax” Then I felt bad for pranking her LOL It’s nice to know the grown kids care about our safety and well being, right? πŸ˜‰ That Boston jacket is way cool!!

It is good to know our kids care but I think if the roles were reversed and they texted me that I would’ve been pissed for worrying me, so I understand my daughters reaction.
I’m loving the jacket and can’t wait to wear it!

I think that you’ll start “feeling” the training as it gets closer to race day. All of the excitement building up to the race will definitely help you get more in the spirit of training!

Thanks Kim for the pep talk. I’m so grateful for this tribe and love all the support we give each other!

Being the sensitive one, I’m not a fan of pranks! I couldn’t even TP houses in high school, lol. I hope you have a good shift!

    • Denise | 1st Feb 20

Thanks! I’ve been lucky at work because most of my shifts lately haven’t been horrible. With the whole coronavirus scare we’ve had completely asymptomatic patients wanting to be tested even though they haven’t been to China or around anyone that has been to China. Ugh!

I bet that new jacket will motivate you! I also struggle to get enough yoga in my life. It’s hard to fit it all in. Thanks for joining for the coffee date!

    • Denise | 1st Feb 20

I probably should hang the jacket where I can see it…out of sight out of mind, and all. Lol
I need to retire so I can do all the things. πŸ™‚

Oh,wow, your kids did freak out. I think mine would for sure because I never joke about things like that β€” especailly not via text. My husband has healthy goals, but not healthy follow-through. ;-). Thanks for joining us for cofffee!

    • Denise | 1st Feb 20

      I texted because I knew I couldn’t do it if I called.
I guess I could same the same about my husband…healthy goals always, but follow through is another story. πŸ˜‰

My favorite hot drink is tea! (I don’t think I can choose just one kind of tea though..)

I’m with you on finding it hard to fit everything I want to do into a week–it’s rough! :[ Good luck to you on the marathon training!

Your poor daughter, hahaha. :[ If I ever pranked people, it’d have to be through text–I can’t keep a straight face!

    • Denise | 2nd Feb 20

That’s why I did it through text, I knew I wouldn’t be able to fool them if I talked to them.
I drink tea almost every afternoon.
      Thanks for reading Farrah!

I wouldn’t worry about your training not going great for Boston. Once you qualify, your first Boston run should be one that you relax (as much as you can relax while running 26 miles), savor, and enjoy. Take in all the sights and don’t worry about running a super-speedy race. You will feel like a rock star!

    • Denise | 2nd Feb 20

That has always been my intention…to relax and enjoy the experience, but I feel like in order to do that I need to train well. Thanks for the encouragement!

Oooooh I like this year’s jacket! Is it navy blue? Black?? Either way I love it! I was SO afraid of the difficult Boston course that I trained like crazy. It was still hard but very manageable and of course surreal. Did you see the Superbowl ad for the self-parking Hundai Sonata where with the people with Boston accents? TOTALLY reminded me of my time in Boston for the marathon. The people are hilarious and SO so kind and fun!

    • Denise | 3rd Feb 20

It’s navy blue. I love it! Great quality too.
I thought the commercial was super funny. My sister was a little offended. Probably because she sounds more like that than I do. Hahaha
