Coffee Talk: April Edition

Hello virtual friends! It’s time again for some chit chat over coffee. I’m brewing Don Francisco’s French roast with a splash of Hazelnut Natural Bliss and 2 scoops of GLC. I’m  pretty much a creature of habit so that’s what I have every morning, usually with a Cliff bar but I’ve switched to Lenny and Larry protein cookies…less sugar.  Look at me switching it up. 🙂

I’m linking with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date.

Over coffee I would tell you that I’m looking forward to our next camping trips. We’re heading to Julian next weekend (the trip that got snowed out last time) and then Malibu 2 weeks after that. I have always wanted to camp in Malibu, I love it there and am looking forward to running along that stretch of the California coast.

I’m hoping it looks like this.

Over coffee I would tell you that I am back at Pilates and loving it.  I was a little worried at first because the studio is small but the reformers are spaced out and the doors are left open. And for what its worth they check our temps and give us hand sanitizer before class. We were already wiping down the equipment after class so no changes there. I needed to feel a little normal. And I’m vaccinated.

Over coffee I would tell you how apparently I’ve been feeding the neighborhood rats. Ugh! I recently noticed that my bird feeders were mysteriously empty every morning. Hmmm? One of my feeders is a wooden tray that hangs from a hook and the other evening (really, late afternoon, it wasn’t even dark yet)  I saw not one, but two rats having a feast in the feeder! And it’s conveniently placed near the pond so they can get a drink afterwards. Eye roll. My husband says I can’t just feed the animals I like without feeding the others. We’ll see about that. Now I have to bring in the feeders every night.

Dinner at Denise’s house!

Well that’s about it. Not much else going on here. How about you? What’s happening in your part of the world?

Would you feel safe going to a small studio to workout? Have you ever unknowingly feed unwelcome visitors? (I’m not talking relatives.) 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Keep running my friends.

      Enjoy your massage!
Which reminds me…I have to schedule myself one. 👍🏻

We feed the squirrels all the time (out of the bird feeders). I think they’re cute, so I’m not phased by it LOL Rats, though…not quite as lovable. Glad you’re enjoying pilates!!

We have squirrels too but like you said rats are a different story. I kind of feel bad, it’s like we’re discriminating. Lol

Now that I’m vaccinated I have been doing a little more than before…but since my son isn’t (and won’t be for a long time) I’m still really careful. Also, my mom watches him a couple days a week and she only had 1 shot so far. It’s great that you can get back to doing something normal again!

It’s hard to know what to do when kids are involved. Hopefully they will continue to do well. 🙏🏼 Happy Easter!

Ewww on the rats! My son lives in Chicago and the rats are as big as cats. He sends me videos of them running around in the alley, lol

I had a rat in my house for a week when my husband was out of town. It’s a crazy story. I’ll tell you it if we meet one day.

Ew on the rats. We seem to feed more squirrels than birds.

I’ve never tried Pilates but I do feel safe taking a class now. I was thinking of yoga.

Have fun camping. We used to do a lot of that in the summer but got spoiled and now sleep on our boat or at home in our bed.

We have a camper with all the things so it’s kind of cheating. 😁

I’m not ready for indoor fitness classes yet, although my physical therapy sessions aren’t that different. Having the doors open seems like a good idea. Ugh on the rats! Don’t the squirrels get it all too?

    • Denise | 3rd Apr 21

We don’t have a lot of squirrels. I would rather feed them than the rats. There’s a lot of fruit trees in the neighborhood which attracts the rats.

Good for you for going back to Pilates. I went back to Body Pump too. I just had 1 shot so far, so I go to the virtual class at our rec center. I am the only student in the class, so that works well for me!

That’s great that you get the class to yourself.

The FB memories are coming up from the spring break we spent going down the CA coast starting in San Fran and ending in San Diego. LOVED Malibu! Santa Barbara as well. Yikes on the rats. Our next door neighbors have numerous bird feeders, alas the hawks and coyotes are smart enough to sit there and prey on whatever comes to dine.

I suppose that’s why many of the rich and famous live in Malibu.
We had a cat that would hang out by the feeders to catch birds. Once she snatched a hummingbird out of mid air. It was awful. 😯

I can’t have bird feeders because the squirrels get into them no matter how squirrel-proof we make them. Bringing yours in during the night sounds like a problem solved since that’s when the rats feed.

Enjoy your camping trip! Sounds fun!

      Thanks Debbie!
I’m hoping the rats move on now that I’m bringing in the bird feeders. 🤞🏼
