What Do You Listen to While Running?

Do you listen to music during your morning run or would you rather zone out with your thoughts? I know of some runners who listen to podcasts or audiobooks. I choose to listen to music because I tried listening to an audiobook once but found I start zoning out (out of habit) and missed sections of the book. For me, music can be motivating during a difficult mile or background noise when I’m pondering the trials and tribulations of life.

Recently I tried Spotify’s running playlist called Top Hits Run. It picks music according to your pace. I’ve used it 3 times now and it starts me out at 180 beats/min. I think that is pretty average. My stride is fairly short so my turnover is quicker than someone with a longer stride at the same pace. Does that make sense? Anyway…I thought I’d give it a try in hopes of finding some new music for my playlist. What I found was that I don’t really like a lot of the music on other running playlists. I took a couple songs for my list then switched to my own playlist. I guess that’s why I have Music Monday…I want what I like on my playlist. A 3 minute song is long when you’re running…be sure you enjoy it.

This weeks featured song was the first song that played on Spotify (giving me false hope for what was to follow).

Bailando (Eng. version) Enrigue Iglesias feat. Sean Paul, Descemer Bueno & Gente De Zona

Do you listen to podcasts? If so which ones?

Thanks for reading.

Keep running!
